About BVPY program & Scholarship

The "Bal Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" (BVPY) is a program that was started by Young scientists welfare foundation long back but has been remodeled in 2020 to suit varying needs of students in this digital era. The program is supported by alumni of eminent national and international colleges (MIT, IITs, Stanford, AIIMS, NITs, DU, JNU to name a few) with a desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students living outside metros in India. The primary aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research which currently are constrained by either lack of financial means or right career direction.

This program aims to assist the students to realize their potential and to ensure that the best scientific talent is groomed for research and development in the country and beyond. Generous fellowship and contingency grant are provided to the selected Fellows during their school studies as well for preparation for competition examination. Few selected fellows also receive support during their under-graduation program.

Various nodal agencies at state level have been entrusted with the overall responsibility for organizing and running this Program. However, an independent scholarship committee has been set-up to monitor the transparency and meritocracy in the scholarship distribution. The fellows are only selected after in-person or video interviews with at least 2 members of scholarship committee.

Additionally, complete discipline and dedication towards the stated objective by the student is a necessary pre-condition for both availing and continuation of scholarship. In case of discontinuation of scholarship, foundation will bear no liability.
  4. Student is free to take admission in any of the participating institutions.
